Medication – early dispensing or extended supply

We would like to remind you of the following processes relating to the dispensing of chronic medication:

  • Repeat medication may only be obtained 24 days after the previous supply
  • CAMAF will allow for extended supplies of medication up to 3 months, upon application
  • If your doctor changes your medication or the dosage, you need to submit a new prescription to CAMAF

Early dispensing - if you go to the pharmacy prior to the lapse of the 24 day period, you will not be able to obtain your repeat, as the system is programmed to prevent this. Should you need the medication earlier than the 24 day period, because you are going away, such arrangements should be made two weeks in advance.

Extended supply of medication should you be travelling overseas for longer than one month, you may request approval to receive up to a three month's supply of medication. If the requirement is for a period exceeding 3 months then a motivation needs to be submitted with the application form as this needs to be approved by me. Where possible, extended supplies should be applied for at least two weeks before scheduled travel, to ensure that the required medication is dispensed timeously.

The relevant forms for the above are available on the website or on request from the Client Relations department on 0860 100 545. A separate form is required per beneficiary.

We trust that this information will be of assistance to you.
